Annual Cleanup?

I'm not sure why but today I felt utterly compelled to overhaul my DeviantART. Does this mean I'm going to become an active member again? Probably not. But I will probably unWatch a ton of people and be a bit more particular about my Gallery. I moved a ton of stuff into scraps and out of the "Featured" folder, and I'm going to clean up my folders in general. My fics don't really need to be all strewn about. I did, however, keep most of my semi-popular pieces in Featured.
Is anyone even still around here? I do get occasional faves on old pieces but... Also, y'all can stop putting stars on my ugly Mewtwo poem mmmkay.

Howdy, watchers! 
...If any of you are still around...
I haven't written a journal entry in months but I hope a few of you have seen my recent artworks. c: I've been doing a lot of writing and a little bit of drawing lately. Now that school is out and summer's here I want to get back into being creative.
I have a fully-functional Bamboo tablet, Krita (an awesome free art program), a mostly-empty sketchbook, and a crapton of harddrive space on this baby. And, of course, the occasional doodle on my PC tablet. So, I've got a question for my watchers:
What do you do to get inspired?
I might check out the subreddit r/redditgetsdrawn or whatever it is, and of course my characters need art. Sometimes getting started is the hardest part, though. D: Or when I try to do something on the computer and then it turns out... not well. It's very discouraging! I've also noticed that DevART is kinda quiet lately. I used to get tons of feedback on my work, and now it's... well, more or less negligible. (Come on, dA!)
I guess that brings me to another point. I also have my art blog on Tumblr but not many followers at all. I know there are more art sites out there, but it's so hard to know what's good. If anyone has suggestions, feel free to let me know.
Other than that... Not much to say about my personal life. If anyone has questions about any of my projects or suggestions, tips, etc etc just leave me a comment. Hope to get back in touch with some of you. C:

Hey everyone, Christine here again. C:
Soooo I'm finally getting back into the digital art scene and I need a little help here. I normally use GIMP for everything and then do any touchups/watermarks/font effects in Photoshop (I have PSE7). Yes, I know it's a little silly to use something like GIMP when I have Photoshop under my belt... but bear with me, eh?
Please don't suggest Paint Tool SAI. I try not to download things illegally and I'm not dropping sixty bucks into the official version. However, if you know anything similar... I'd love the suggestion.
Things I really like are good pressure control (I have a tablet that actually works now, haha), a variety of basic and textured brushes, an easily accessible colour palette, and basically just a really user-friendly interface. I'm not super keen on spending a lot of time having to learn a new program.
Oh and obviously the basic things like layer control, opacity, etc. are cool. Filters I'm not so worried about; I've got Photoshop for that.
So, suggestions, folks? Help me out here please! C:

Anyways, hmmm a quick update... Well, as a few of you may have seen, I've posted a couple Revolution-related writings so feel free to check those out if it floats your boat. I also have a new original character named Warren Maeston, and he's kind of in a steampunk universe. But for a better image of him you should check out this really amazing picture Kuronyo drew of my dear refinery worker and her spirit-beast, Inferno. (link redirects to tumblr. still silently freaking out over her skills.)
I'll put some art up on here eventually but write now I'm in a bit of a slump. D: I'm trying to do some sketching and stuff to get out of it, but it's slow going. I know some people don't really watch me for my writing as much as my art but I'm really kind of proud of my writings as of late. ;o; Don't worry I try not to go overboard with cliches about romance and stuff and it takes place in the seventies and I just want to share my RevOTP with the world gross sobbing I love Brennan and Bando so much
On a slightly more somber note, I'd like to just take a moment here and remember the victims and heroes of the attacks on September 11, 2001. It's been twelve years but my heart still goes out to the families and people affected by the tragedy. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope you have found - or will someday find - peace in your world.
